Passo Dordona – North, Sondrio, Lombardy, Italy – by motorcycle and drone

Description

The Passo Dordona forms a road connection between the villages of Fusine in Valtellina in the province of Sondrio in the north and Foppolo in Valle Brembana in the province of Bergamo in the south. Both passes are located in the Lombardy region. The pass is 2,063 meters high. The northern ascent from Fusine is about 18 km long. The southern ascent is relatively short at about 4 km, as the winter sports resort of Foppolo itself is already at an altitude of about 1615 meters, meaning that only about 450 meters of elevation need to be overcome. The entire crossing is therefore about 22 km long.

On the northern ascent, more than the first half is asphalted or concreted. After that, the road becomes a partly rough gravel road, which is often interrupted by concreted sections on some steep sections. On the southern side of the pass, at about 1935 meters and about 1.5 km before the pass summit, you will find the Rifugio Dordona.

The southern ascent is concrete for the first third; after that, the road becomes a partly rough gravel road, which is repeatedly interrupted by concrete sections, especially on steep sections.

A permit is required to drive on the pass, which is currently available for €5 from the municipal administrations or bars in the above-mentioned towns.

The road is located in the Italian province of Sondrio in the Lombardy region.
