Grimselpass – South, Road 6, Obergoms, Valais, Switzerland – by motorcycle

The Grimsel Pass is 2,163 metres high and connects the valley town of Guttannen in the north with the valley town of Gletsch in the south. The entire pass crossing is about 24 km long, with about 6 km on the southern ascent and about 18 km on the northern ascent. Around 1894, the pass crossing was upgraded to a road. However, it was only with the construction of reservoirs and the use of hydropower that the road was built, which is now very easy to drive on and connects the Swiss cantons of Bern and Valais.

In winter, the pass is closed from around October to May.

The southern ascent of the pass road is located in the municipality of Obergoms in the Swiss canton of Valais.
