Description

The D942 balcony road runs for about 11km from Châteauneuf de Chabre to Barret sur Méouge on the north side of the Gorges de la Méouge. The gorges are located in the Sisteron-Buëch area in the province Hautes-Alpes and are designated as a bio-reserve. You will find a medieval (approx. 14th century) arched bridge, near which various places invite you to take a bath. The beautiful gorge is easy to drive (by motorcycle). From time to time you have to make room for larger vehicles. Since the area around the medieval bridge is very popular with bathing tourists, you have to expect many pedestrians and parked cars.

This route belongs to the so-called "French Balcony Roads".
