Description
The Gorges d'Omblèze is a gorge carved into the limestone by the river Gervanne. The D578 road passes through the gorge, but ends in the Val d'Omblèze after about 6 km to the north. The road is not a through road and therefore has little traffic. You can only enter the gorge from the south via Plan de Baix. In some places the gorge is quite narrow and has high and steep rock faces, which make the gorge interesting for sport climbers. The gorge is located in the department of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes / Drôme and there in the massif of Vercors. The river Gervanne has several waterfalls worth seeing, such as the Cascade de la Pissoire, the Cascade de Chatelat and a little further south the Chute de la Druise, which is about 70 meters high.
