Cormet d'Arêches, Road D218, Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France – by motorcycle and drone

Description

At 2107 metres, the Cormet d'Arêches is the highest point of the pass road that leads over the Beaufortain massif. The pass road thus connects the villages of Beaufort and Arêches in the north with the village of Aime-la-Plagne in the Isère valley in the south. When work began in 1961 on the Saint-Guérin dam, which is located around 11 km south of Beaufort at an altitude of around 1560 metres, the old pass road was also significantly improved and largely asphalted. The entire crossing of the Beaufortain massif is around 34 kilometres long and involves around 5.5 kilometres of gravel road.

The Cormet d'Arêches pass is located in the department of Savoie in the province of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
