Route de la Maglia, Balcony Road, Maritime Alps, France – by motorcycle

Description

The balcony road Route de la Maglia was designed and built in 1888 to open up the Maglia High Valley. It runs for about 5 km on the south side of the Maglia Valley from east to west. In parts the road is in poor condition and towards the end it turns into a gravel road. In many places the road is cut out of the steep limestone rock and you drive partly high above the valley floor. You will also meet some sportsmen on the road who are canyoning in the Maglia River. The road is located in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, in the Alpes-Maritimes / Maritime Alps and only a few km northeast of the French town of Breil-sur-Roya / Breglio sul Roia.

This route belongs to the so-called "French Balcony Roads".
