Description

Coming from Barcelonnette or Uvernet-Fours, the balcony road D902 leads for about 17 km first to the south and then to the east to reach the settlement of Bayasse after about 17 km. The road leads in the valley bottom of the gorge always along the river Bachelard. The side of the valley is changed several times over several bridges. The road leads past rock walls, is secured against the river by sometimes quite high retaining walls and is so narrow in many places that cars have to drive back to the next passing point. Rockfall and a dirty roadway must also be expected. Otherwise, the road is in good condition and easy to drive on with some caution. The road is located in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and there in the province of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. At the end of the route, i.e. at the settlement of Bayasse, the northern ascent to the Col de la Cayolle then also begins.

This route belongs to the so-called "French Balcony Roads".
