Description

For about 17 km, the D942 balcony road runs on the north side of the Gorge de la Nesque between Villes sur Auzon and Monieux. The road runs through a barren landscape that becomes increasingly rocky and steeper in the east. At about 860 meters above sea level there is a lookout point where you can look down into the up to 400 meter deep gorge. The area of the gorge lies south of Mont Ventoux in the French department of Vaucluse. Tight bends and especially short but narrow tunnels prevent the traffic of trucks and other large vehicles, so that the gorge is very popular with cyclists and motorcyclists.
