Congosto de Obarra, Road A1605, Huesca, Aragon, Spain – by motorcycle

Description

The northern section of the A1605 road, about 17 km long, first runs along the west side of the Rio Isábena, a tributary of the Esera. First you pass the monastery of Santa María de Obarra. Then you pass through the very narrow and very steep Obarra gorge, the Congosta de Obarra. The river Isábena has created a very narrow gorge there, in parts only a little more than 10 metres wide, but more than 300 metres high. On the west side, this gorge can be crossed on a road that has been cut into the rock about halfway up. There are also several tunnels to pass through. As the road continues, it gains altitude and then crosses the Alto de Bonansa, a pass of more than 1300 metres, west of the village of Bonansa. It then continues downhill past the town of Bonansa until the road meets the main N260 road to the north. The road is located in the province of Huesca, in the region of Aragon.
