Col de la Cayolle – North, Balcony Road D902, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, France – by motorcycle

Description

At the southern end of the Gorges de Bachelard near the village of Bayasse, the actual northern ascent to the Col de la Cayolle begins. You cross the Bachelard River and drive steadily uphill for about 9 km to reach the pass at 2326 meters above sea level. The road is bumpy but overall well maintained. Some bridges also have to be crossed on the way. The landscape and the view attract tourists, so that on some days a little more traffic is to be expected. If there is oncoming traffic, it gets a little tight; but with consideration, you can continue without problems. The Col de la Cayolle is reached through the Gorges de Bachelard, which starts at Barcelonnette / Uvernet-Fours. The pass connects the departments Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the north and Alpes-Maritimes in the south and it is located in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

This route belongs to the so-called "French Balcony Roads".
