Cirque de Combe Laval, Balcony Road D76, Vercors, France – by motorcycle

Description

A motorcycle ride along the spectacular french balcony road D76 – Combe Laval with a truly magnificent view.

The section of the D76 road leading from Saint-Jean-en-Royan to the Col de la Machine on the west side of the Combe Laval valley is called Cirque de Combe Laval. The road was built in 1898 as a forest road for the development of the Vercors. The valley incision is about 4 km long, 1.5 km wide and up to 600 metres deep. Due to the spectacular location of the road, carved into the steep rock, it quickly became a tourist attraction. For every motorcyclist this road is a highlight. Because of the better light conditions the road is best to drive from south to north in the morning.

This route belongs to the so-called "French Balcony Roads".
