Description

To the west, shortly after Castellane, the great Verdon Gorge begins with the "Port des Gorges du Verdon". The balcony road D952 leads on the north side of the river and thus on the north side of the gorge first to the Pont de Soleis and then further to La Palud-sur-Verdon. There are about 22 km to cover on a well-maintained road. The second half of the route makes the road rise slightly, while the river has dug itself deeper and deeper into the rock. On the way there are some narrow passages with high and steep rock walls to drive through. The most impressive parts of the road are the "Clue de Chasteuil" and the "Clue de Carajuan". Since the road is also the access to some remarkable viewpoints and to the circular route "Route de Crêtes", it is very popular especially in the summer months and therefore also very busy. The road is located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department and there in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region.

This route belongs to the so-called "French Balcony Roads".
